Deregulation - what does it mean?

From April 2017 all non-domestic customers no matter size, sector or usage will be able to choose their provider of water retail services. The water itself will still be provided from the same source and the waste water services will be provided by the same wholesaler. The new deregulated water market means that customers will engage with an approved retailer for their meter reads, billing and customer service, in the same model as the deregulated gas and electricity markets.
